This time of year divides us doesn’t it? For some, it’s time to go into hibernation and for others it’s party season!
We had a taste of the latter recently when after three years of distance, due to covid predominantly, Morgan and I were finally in the same room. We hung out in London at a club in Great Portland Street watching the magnificent Kristeen Young (@kristeenyoung). The cherry on the cake was meeting up with some old mutual pals we haven’t seen for far too long.
So, before we tell you what’s coming next from RSD, in case you missed it, on Halloween we released DARKSTAR. This single/video is our fourth and final release from ACCIDENTS, our album we released earlier this year. We’ve had some great reviews and interviews about this track and the word on the street has been “Darkstar is haunting, powerful and dark”… Well yes, because as you probably know by now, Ready Steady Die! is not shy at talking about tough stuff. And DARKSTAR is a little sinister. Well… quite sinister truth be known. Frankly it’s about a serial killer targeting women.
About the video, which Morgan created entirely himself under his alter ego WeekendClass: It’s the first video we’ve made using AI. The images and animation were created using Midjourney and Stable Diffusion.
So our next tune drop will be in December. We are going to be releasing a one-off single that’s not included in any of our albums. Our friend and DJ Julie at WFMU curated an album called MORE KINKY GIRLS which is an exclusive album of all female vocalists singing Kinks’ covers. We loved being involved in this project with Julie and were super stoked to be invited to be included in this amazing album. We chose one of our favourite Kinks’ tracks, COME DANCING. The original is such fun and at quite a pace so we’ve given it a completely different slowed down vibe, which we really hope you enjoy. Morgan has finished a music video for this and you can see it here.
Wishing you a happy festive season and peace and love in 2023 (as well as album 3 of course 😊)
Back soon.
Love from us,
Sam and Morgan.
